The pattern is aligned on the patientΓÇÖs cornea, by the use of a joy stick or keyboard, while viewing the eye in the monitor. The different instruments have different alignment guides which are seen on the screen.
In addition to proper alignment, the
pattern is brought into focus. Many
instruments have automated the final
focusing. Once the patient is positioned
and the instrument aligned the patient
is asked to blink and then stare at the
fixation target. The image is then
captured by pressing the appropriate
button on the instrument.
